# Pulse NVMe > Put storage-sensitive applications on an NVMe foundation in Switzerland. Pulse pairs Linux KVM environments with configurable CPU, memory and network resources for projects where disk activity matters. Canonical human page: https://swissoctet.com/services/pulse/ SwissOctet public catalogue. Currency: USD. Location: Switzerland / CH. The fixed-address crypto checkout uses a public USD rate to calculate the exact amount for the selected asset and network, with a 25-minute payment window. This browser quote is not a server-issued invoice. Transaction attribution, payment confirmation and provisioning require the operator’s backend. Fast NVMe storage for applications where I/O is part of the performance equation. ## Starting configuration Starting configuration: Pulse NVMe 01 (pulse-01); USD 13.77 effective monthly base on the shortest available 1-month term; USD 13.77 base charge for that term. Add-ons and applicable tax are separate. | Starting-plan specification | Listed value | | --- | --- | | Virtualization | KVM | | VCPU | 4 x Xeon E5-2680 v4 | | RAM | 1GB DDR4 | | Storage | 30GB NVMe | | Bandwidth | 100Mbp/s 2TB | | DDoS Protection | Layer 3-4 | ## Service capabilities ### NVMe at the centre The base plans list NVMe storage for your system and application data. Size the volume around active data, updates and working files. ### CPU and memory in balance Disk performance is only one part of the stack. Compare the listed processor allocation and RAM alongside storage when choosing a Pulse plan. ### Linux images and hosting tools Choose a Linux image and optional hosting software in the configurator. A minimal system or a panel-based workflow can share the same NVMe foundation. ### An explicit network configuration Review port speed, traffic and optional IPv4 addresses independently. Add network capacity only where it fits the application's usage. ## Example workloads ### Database-driven applications Provide a foundation for applications that frequently read and write a working dataset, with enough RAM for the database. ### Build and development tools Run your own project builds, package preparation or staging workflows that use many small files. ### Active content platforms Host a publishing or commerce stack whose storage needs are more about active access than long-term archiving. ## A closer look ### Choose NVMe for the right reason Pulse is the storage-focused alternative to the standard SSD VPS range. It makes sense to compare when your application spends time waiting for disk operations. It is not a substitute for a well-sized database cache, efficient queries or enough memory. Measure the bottleneck before deciding which resource to increase. ### Configure the complete application environment The Linux image sets the starting point; the application stack determines the rest. Decide how you will deploy, update and administer the software, then choose optional hosting tools, CPU, memory and disk additions. Read the description of each storage addition rather than assuming it changes the base volume's technology. ### Privacy includes your working data A Swiss offshore location is only one layer of a private deployment. Keep credentials outside your public web directory, separate administrative and public access, and decide which application logs you actually need. Optional daily backups have their own retention choices; maintain a recovery plan appropriate to the data. ### Keep control as the working dataset grows The Pulse catalogue combines KVM with NVMe base storage and Layer 3–4 network protection. Root administration, initial address allocation and recovery access should be confirmed before delivery. Use the optional resources and hosting tools to define your starting configuration; changes to an existing instance, reinstallations and encrypted-disk recovery need an agreed procedure. ## Configurations and billing Base prices exclude separately selected add-ons. The actual configuration total, availability, delivery, licences and any applicable tax are confirmed before a real order. ### Pulse NVMe 01 Start with NVMe storage for a focused Linux workload. No application benchmark is promised here. Performance depends on the complete resource allocation, software, dataset and workload; test with your own application. ### Is every optional disk addition NVMe? Read each option's label. The base plans specify NVMe, while an extra-disk option may describe SSD storage separately. Do not assume the two are identical. ### Can I add a hosting or deployment panel? Yes. The configurator lists the hosting-software choices for Pulse. Verify the panel's system requirements and any licence limits against your selected resources. ### Is Pulse suitable for storing a very large archive? It depends on capacity and access patterns. For a storage-heavy archive, compare Vault Storage as well; an active NVMe volume and bulk storage serve different needs. ### How do I protect application data after deployment? Use controlled access, application-appropriate encryption and tested backups. Select backup retention deliberately and keep a separate copy for failures beyond the primary environment. ### How much control do I have over the Linux stack? Pulse is intended for customer-administered applications. Confirm root access at delivery, then choose the supported packages, services and access rules for the operating system. ### Is network protection part of the base configuration? Layer 3–4 protection appears in the base specifications. The advanced DDoS choice is a separate upgrade; application security, rate limiting and backups still require their own plan. ### What should I confirm about IP addresses? The configurator lists additional IPv4 choices. Confirm the initial dedicated address, IPv6 availability and network configuration before relying on a particular allocation. ### Can I reinstall or change resources after deployment? The current configurator defines a proposed configuration. Confirm the procedure, potential downtime and data handling for an existing instance. Custom media and disk-encryption requirements also need operator review. ## Relevant guides - [How to choose a VPS without guessing](https://swissoctet.com/insights/choose-a-vps-by-workload/index.txt): Turn an application idea into a useful resource budget, then compare CPU, memory, storage and transfer together. - [When NVMe makes a difference to your application](https://swissoctet.com/insights/nvme-storage-when-it-matters/index.txt): Distinguish capacity, latency and throughput so that a faster storage label answers a real application problem. - [Size VPS CPU and memory from a real workload](https://swissoctet.com/insights/size-vps-cpu-and-memory/index.txt): Build a memory budget, inspect contention and separate one busy thread from work that can use several virtual cores. - [A Linux VPS hardening baseline you can maintain](https://swissoctet.com/insights/linux-vps-hardening-baseline/index.txt): Secure administration, expose only required services and establish updates and recovery without locking yourself out. - [Measure NVMe performance without misleading yourself](https://swissoctet.com/insights/nvme-benchmark-methodology/index.txt): Define the I/O pattern, control cache effects and inspect latency distributions before drawing an application conclusion from a disk test. - [Web hosting or a VPS: choose the work you want to own](https://swissoctet.com/insights/web-hosting-or-your-own-vps/index.txt): Compare application requirements, control and maintenance responsibilities rather than treating a VPS as the automatic next step for every website. - [Snapshots and backups: choose the failure you need to survive](https://swissoctet.com/insights/snapshots-backups-consistency/index.txt): Compare recovery points, failure boundaries and application consistency instead of assuming a snapshot and an independent backup provide the same protection. - [Object, file or block storage: choose the interface your application needs](https://swissoctet.com/insights/object-file-block-storage/index.txt): Distinguish storage interfaces, access semantics and operational responsibilities before turning a capacity requirement into an application architecture. - [A domain, DNS and TLS cutover runbook for a new server](https://swissoctet.com/insights/dns-tls-cutover-runbook/index.txt): Prepare hostname routing, certificates and rollback together so that a migration changes the server without breaking the site's identity or secure connections. - [Give your AI workers a bounded place to run](https://swissoctet.com/insights/give-ai-workers-a-bounded-runtime/index.txt): Separate model inference from orchestration, size the actual worker and limit what its tools can change before putting an AI workflow on a server. - [Separate your public web edge from the application](https://swissoctet.com/insights/separate-the-web-edge-from-the-app/index.txt): Give the web server, reverse proxy and application distinct responsibilities, with deliberate origin access, TLS, request limits and an incident path.
