# Metal EPYC > An AMD EPYC foundation for your Swiss server stack. Choose the network variant, memory and storage around parallel applications, virtual environments or data-heavy services that fit the listed hardware. Canonical human page: https://swissoctet.com/services/metal-epyc/ SwissOctet public catalogue. Currency: USD. Location: Switzerland / CH. The fixed-address crypto checkout uses a public USD rate to calculate the exact amount for the selected asset and network, with a 25-minute payment window. This browser quote is not a server-issued invoice. Transaction attribution, payment confirmation and provisioning require the operator’s backend. AMD-powered dedicated hardware for parallel workloads and serious compute. ## Starting configuration Starting configuration: Metal EPYC 01 (metal-epyc-01); USD 371.79 effective monthly base on the shortest available 1-month term; USD 371.79 base charge for that term. Add-ons and applicable tax are separate. | Starting-plan specification | Listed value | | --- | --- | | SYSTEM | BARE METAL | | CPU | AMD EPYC 7452 | | RAM | 64GB DDR4 | | STORAGE | 1TB NVMe | | PORT SPEED | 10GBPS | | BANDWIDTH | 100TB | | IPS | 5 | ## Service capabilities ### An AMD server platform The range lists an EPYC 7452 processor foundation. Check application support and workload behaviour when comparing it with the Intel server families. ### NVMe in the base plans The EPYC plans list NVMe primary storage. Additional drive selections have their own descriptions and should be reviewed separately. ### Network variants for your data Compare port speed and metered or unmetered traffic combinations. Choose the transfer model that suits the application rather than selecting speed alone. ### Memory, IPs and software choices Select the listed RAM upgrades, address allocation and operating environment. Optional hosting licences remain distinct from the physical resources. ## Example workloads ### Parallel application workers Run a workload that can distribute useful work across the processor, after checking its actual CPU and memory needs. ### Virtual infrastructure Evaluate the listed hypervisor options for a private environment with deliberate resource allocation and restricted administration. ### Data-intensive services Combine primary NVMe storage with a suitable network variant for applications that process and move significant datasets. ## A closer look ### Choose AMD for the workload it serves Software uses processor resources in different ways. A service with one busy thread and a batch job with many independent tasks may favour different configurations. Compare your application's compatibility and measured behaviour against the listed EPYC platform instead of relying on a generic performance claim. ### Keep storage and transfer in balance The EPYC base plans list NVMe storage, but the amount of data you can serve also depends on the application, network and traffic model. Review the port and allowance together. Additional-drive choices can expand capacity; their labels identify the storage being added. ### Give each operational layer a clear owner A dedicated server can support several applications or virtual environments, each with its own access needs. Decide who handles the host, guest systems, software and backups. A Swiss location and no-KYC order flow sit alongside these controls, while secure operation depends on how you configure the stack. ### Take the AMD platform through a compatibility review For virtualisation, databases, scientific processing or business applications, verify the software against the EPYC model and the selected memory and storage layout. The physical-server plan lists five IPs; confirm root or administrator credentials, recovery-console access, IPv6 and network protection before delivery. Hardware stock, reinstall methods and later upgrades need a specific operator-approved procedure. ## Configurations and billing Base prices exclude separately selected add-ons. The actual configuration total, availability, delivery, licences and any applicable tax are confirmed before a real order. ### Metal EPYC 01 An AMD EPYC 7452 dedicated configuration with 64 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe drive. Compare the network port and traffic model in the table. Review all specifications and options before choosing, even when the base CPU and storage appear similar. ### Does every additional disk use NVMe? The primary storage is listed as NVMe. Read the separate additional-drive labels; they may specify SSD storage without describing it as NVMe. ### Will EPYC make any application faster? No universal benchmark is claimed. The benefit depends on software compatibility, parallelism and the workload's CPU, memory and storage limits. ### Can I select an Intel server instead? Yes. The Metal families include Intel configurations. Compare the complete hardware, network and software requirements rather than choosing only by processor brand. ### What should I check for a virtualisation deployment? Verify the selected hypervisor's requirements, plan resource allocation and secure host administration. Include guest backups and recovery procedures before running production services. ### Does EPYC imply a GPU or an AI stack is included? No. The EPYC specification describes a CPU platform. Accelerated workloads need a separately listed GPU and compatible software; compare Tensor if an accelerator is part of the requirement. ### What administration and recovery access should I expect? Confirm root or administrator credentials and a secured IPMI or equivalent console. Bare-metal hardware does not itself verify a delivered remote-management workflow. ### What is the address and protection scope? The plans list five IPs and optional additional blocks. Confirm IPv6 allocation and baseline network protection separately before relying on them. ### Are stock, reinstallations and upgrades confirmed? They require operator validation for the actual server. Review image support, disk compatibility and any maintenance window; a listed configuration does not establish current stock or instant reinstalls. ## Relevant guides - [VPS or dedicated: choose the boundary that fits](https://swissoctet.com/insights/vps-or-dedicated-server/index.txt): Understand what a physical machine changes, what it does not change, and when it becomes a useful step for your workload. - [Secure Windows RDP administration without losing access](https://swissoctet.com/insights/secure-windows-rdp-administration/index.txt): Separate network reachability, authentication and privilege, then verify a recovery route before tightening remote access. - [A Linux VPS hardening baseline you can maintain](https://swissoctet.com/insights/linux-vps-hardening-baseline/index.txt): Secure administration, expose only required services and establish updates and recovery without locking yourself out. - [Measure NVMe performance without misleading yourself](https://swissoctet.com/insights/nvme-benchmark-methodology/index.txt): Define the I/O pattern, control cache effects and inspect latency distributions before drawing an application conclusion from a disk test. - [A dedicated-server migration runbook that protects the data](https://swissoctet.com/insights/dedicated-server-migration-runbook/index.txt): Rehearse the move, establish a consistent data boundary and define what rollback means after the new system accepts writes. - [Object, file or block storage: choose the interface your application needs](https://swissoctet.com/insights/object-file-block-storage/index.txt): Distinguish storage interfaces, access semantics and operational responsibilities before turning a capacity requirement into an application architecture. - [Understand the machine boundary behind your VPS](https://swissoctet.com/insights/understand-the-vps-machine-boundary/index.txt): Read KVM, virtual hardware, containers and dedicated servers as operating boundaries, then maintain the shell and services inside the boundary you choose.
