# The SwissOctet Network: Location and Capacity Explained Canonical URL: https://swissoctet.com/network/ THE SWISS CONNECTION ## Your infrastructure has a home. Your ambition has no borders. Swiss hosting, from the first virtual machine to demanding high-throughput workloads. Choose the network profile that matches the way your project moves data. SwissOctet brings Swiss location, visible transfer allowances and configurable resources into one catalogue, so you can plan around the actual specification of your service. [Explore high-bandwidth servers](https://swissoctet.com/catalogue/network/) \+ ONE COUNTRY ## Swiss location. Visible specifications. Check connection rates and transfer allowances on each plan. The catalogue spans virtual compute, dedicated hardware and high-throughput Transit configurations. Switzerland / CH 1–200 Gbps dedicated profiles Plan-specific traffic allowances ## One country. A complete infrastructure spectrum. Every configuration in the SwissOctet catalogue is presented with a Swiss location. There is no country selector to move your order elsewhere. Start with a lightweight Linux environment, build a dedicated application platform or compare the Transit ranges when moving large volumes of data becomes the main requirement. Location is one part of the decision. The route to your users, the software at each end and the performance of storage all affect the experience. A Swiss server gives you a clear hosting destination; your application architecture determines how well that destination serves your audience. ### Virtual infrastructure VPS profiles combine a stated port rate with a transfer allowance. Check the chosen plan and optional port upgrades together. [Compare VPS](https://swissoctet.com/catalogue/compute/) ### Dedicated capacity Dedicated ranges include profiles with 1 or 10 Gbps ports. Transfer terms differ, including stated quotas and unmetered configurations. [Explore dedicated](https://swissoctet.com/catalogue/dedicated/) ### High-throughput workloads Transit 40, Transit 100 and Transit 200 present 40, 100 and 200 Gbps port profiles respectively, with unmetered transfer listed in their specifications. [Explore Transit](https://swissoctet.com/catalogue/network/) ## A port rate and a transfer allowance tell different stories. Port speed describes the rate of a connection. A monthly transfer allowance describes the amount of data included over time. A fast port with a fixed allowance can suit short bursts, while a sustained distribution workload needs enough capacity across the whole billing period. Compare both figures before choosing. An unmetered label means the listed plan does not present a fixed monthly transfer quota. It does not mean an unlimited instantaneous speed, a guaranteed rate to every destination or permission to disrupt shared infrastructure. The physical port, application performance and usage policy still apply. - Read the bandwidth or traffic line on the specific configuration. - Check whether a port upgrade changes the transfer allowance or only the connection rate. - Estimate normal demand and bursts separately. - Include replication, backup traffic and software distribution in your estimate. ## Build around the whole route, not a headline number. A large network port cannot accelerate a slow remote client or a disk that cannot read quickly enough. Encryption, application workers, concurrent connections and the receiving system can each become the limiting component. Plan a balanced machine before paying for more network capacity. Measure from locations that represent your audience and keep the test conditions clear. Record the destination, timing, protocol and concurrency alongside the result. Use small, authorised tests first; repeated saturation tests belong in a coordinated maintenance window, not on somebody else's service. ## Protect the service at every layer. Some catalogue configurations list Layer 3–4 DDoS protection, and selected products offer related options. Read the chosen configuration rather than assuming that every service includes the same protection. A network protection label is not a promise to absorb every attack or secure an application automatically. Keep the operating system maintained, restrict administration access and limit exposed services. Application authentication, rate limits, request validation and a recovery plan remain part of running a reliable project. ## A private environment. A responsible network. SwissOctet is designed for lawful projects whose owners value confidentiality. The same principle protects other customers: your service must not create attacks, fraudulent destinations or avoidable instability for their infrastructure. Abuse reports should include the affected address, relevant timestamps, a concise description and evidence with personal information reduced to what is necessary. Never submit credentials, private keys or complete customer datasets. Operational response procedures and contractual remedies will be defined with the live service terms. - Do not originate denial-of-service attacks, unauthorised intrusion or network disruption. - Do not host phishing, malware distribution, fraud or unsolicited bulk messaging. - Do not host or distribute sexual abuse material involving children or content that harms people unlawfully. - Only test systems you own or have explicit permission to assess. - Respect applicable law, software licences and the rights of the people whose data you handle. ## Bring the useful numbers. Leave the secrets out. Preparing a network request is easier when you know your current monthly transfer, the peak rate, the regions you serve and the type of workload. Tell us whether you distribute files, serve interactive requests or replicate data; these patterns require different balances of CPU, storage and network capacity. Add any specific address requirement and your preferred operating system. Availability, route information, support arrangements and any service commitment must be confirmed for the actual order. This catalogue does not advertise an independently measured uptime, a peering list or an unverified latency guarantee. ### Prepare a network brief Keep your expected usage, preferred range and operational constraints together in one clear request.
